Hiking distance 5km (bus ride 1hr) hiking time 2:30hrs
Catch an early morning bus from Mtae to Kwesimu village. You will hike from here to Irente farm (approx. 1 hour). Enjoy a breakfast of fresh produce here before heading to Irente viewpoint where you have wonderful views across the sisal plantations and cliff tops. From here you will head back to Lushoto town. End of hiking.

On this tour, you'll find plenty of bird species, monkeys and butterflies. In the south, you can visit the beautiful Kisasa Waterfalls, as well as the Mkuzi Waterfalls in the center of Usambara. This is a very beautiful, versatile and tranquil hiking area worth a visit. If you have some additional time, the East Usambara Mountains are worth a visit with the tropical Magoroto Lake to relax after your hike where you can enjoy swimming and easier hikes through the tropical rainforests.
